GPPC Inc., the construction company contracted by the CNMI government for the improvement of Beach Road, has assured the Department of Public Works that the project will be completed on April 16, 2025.

The $19.7 million Beach Road improvement project, which began in Feb. 2023, involves the reconstruction of a 2.2-mile section of the road, from the As Perdido Road intersection in Chalan Piao to the former Atkins Kroll intersection in San Jose. The original completion target was Jan. 2, 2024.

In his letter to DPW Secretary Ray N. Yumul, GPPC Inc. project manager Dennis Tupas said they were pleased to inform him that Phase II of the project “is nearing completion.” Based on the current progress and final review of the remaining work, Tupas said, “we assure you that the project will reach substantial completion on or before April 16, 2025.”

He said the project team has successfully fulfilled most major deliverables in accordance with the project specifications, with only minor outstanding items currently being addressed.

He said the team remains committed to finalizing inspections, quality checks, and necessary documentation to meet the April 16, 2025, deadline.

After the substantial completion of the road project, Tupas said they will coordinate with all stakeholders to “address minor deficiencies and transition towards full project closeout.” They will also provide all necessary documentation, including as-built drawings, warranties, and operational manuals, as required, he added.
