THE diamond is calling once again as Saipan Little League Inc. officially prepares to launch its 2026 season. With a focus on player safety and community spirit, the league has announced a critical pre-season training session, followed by a highly anticipated opening ceremony slated for Friday, Jan. 30, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

Before the first pitch, Saipan Little League is prioritizing the well-being of its athletes. This Saturday, the league will host a Basic First Aid Training session at the Oleai Elementary School cafeteria from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The training is open to all league coaches, managers, and volunteers. In partnership with the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the curriculum is designed to ensure that those on the sidelines are prepared for any situation.

Key topics include:

– Recognizing and acting on basic sports injuries

– Identifying and controlling different types of bleeding

– Protocols for concussions, dislocations, and fractures

With participation capped at the first 20 registrants, the league is emphasizing a high-standard, hands-on learning environment to kick off a safe year of play.

As for Saipan Little League Inc.’s 2026 season, the opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field. This year’s opening follows the successful debut of the “Girls with Game” fastpitch softball league earlier this month, signaling a robust expansion of the Little League program on the island.
