Carl Aldan gets 1 year for assault, other charges and probation violations

SUPERIOR Court Judge Kenneth L. Govendo has sentenced Carl Steven C. Aldan to one-year imprisonment not subject to parole or early release, with credit for time served since Aug. 8, 2024.

Aldan was accused of attempting to assault his partner with a machete.

He pled guilty to the charges of assault, and disturbing the peace in Criminal Case No. 24-0070-CR on March 20. He also admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his probation in Criminal Case Nos. 23-0062-CR and 19-0049-CR. 

He was represented by Assistant Public Defender Molly Dennert, while Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

In his judgment and commitment order, Judge Govendo also sentenced Aldan in Criminal Case No. 23-0062-CR, ordering him to serve his remaining suspended sentence of 320 days to run consecutively with the sentence for Criminal Case No. 24-0070-CR.

“In Criminal Case No. 19-0049-CR, defendant is sentenced to his remaining suspended sentence of 6 years, all suspended except 1 year and shall run concurrently with the sentence in Criminal Case Nos. 24-0070-CR and 23-0062-CR,” the order stated.

Aldan will be released from the custody of the Department of Corrections on June 23, 2026, at 8 a.m.

He will serve five years of supervised probation beginning June 23, 2026, pay a fine and court costs of $125, and a probation fee of $600. He will also perform 160 hours of community service.

He was ordered not to have direct or indirect contact with the victims in cases 24-0070-CR and 23-0062-CR.

According to court documents, Aldan, on Aug. 6, 2024, “unlawfully offered or attempted, with force or violence, to strike, beat, wound or to do bodily harm to [the victim]; to wit: Defendant attempted to strike [the victim] with a machete,” and did “unlawfully and willfully commit an act which unreasonably annoyed or disturbed the peace of [the victim], depriving…her [of] right to peace and quiet, or which provokes a breach of peace.”

In 23-0062-CR, Judge Govendo sentenced Aldan to one-year imprisonment for assault and battery, all suspended except for 45 days.

In that case, Aldan was also placed on one-year probation and was ordered to pay the victim $388.52 for medical expenses and lost wages incurred.
