FORMER Rep. Janet U. Maratita on Wednesday vowed to serve as a board member of the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation with integrity and dedication to the people.
Nominated by Gov. David M. Apatang to represent Saipan on the NMHC board of directors, Maratita also promised to work collaboratively with other board members during the public hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigation in the Senate chamber.
She told the committee that she will help ensure responsible policies and transparency and will serve residents with dignity and fairness. Maratita also said she brings a wealth of passion and respect for public service and is prepared to carry out her responsibilities as an NMHC board member.
Special Assistant for the Administration John Paul Reyes presented Maratita to the committee on behalf of the governor and Lt. Gov. Dennis James Mendiola. He respectfully asked for the committee’s support for confirmation, saying that Maratita is a distinguished senior public sector official who has served in both the executive and legislative branches of government, with more than 30 years of exemplary service in leadership and public policy.
Reyes added that Maratita’s experience and expertise reflect a steadfast commitment to governance, cultural preservation, and effective public service.
NMHC Board Chairwoman Marcie Tomokane offered her strong support, saying that Maratita’s more than 30 years of public service reflect exceptional leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the people of the Commonwealth. She added that Maratita’s professional background, education, and skill set make her highly qualified to serve in this important role.
Having served in both the legislative and executive branches of government, Maratita has demonstrated sound leadership and policy oversight across critical areas such as education, health, natural resources, and economic development, Tomokane said.
