Over $100K approved for Rota programs, sports, scholarships

GOVERNOR David M. Apatang last week approved an appropriation of $103,625 from poker fee collections for the Rota programs and services.

Authored by Rep. Julie Marie Ogo, House Bill 24-49 is now Rota Local Law 24-7.

It allocates the gambling revenue as follows:

• $60,000 for the Marianas Games and upgrades to Rota sports facilities.

• $24,000 for subsistence allowances for Rota medical referral patients.

• $9,625 for the Rota municipal scholarship.

•  $5,000 for the Rota Dog Control Program.

• $5,000 for the Luta from Luta Organization.
