Santos, Brennfleck top Route 36 5K

THE scenic but challenging Windward Road served as the backdrop for a display of dominance last Saturday morning, as Victor Nash Santos and Shawna Brennfleck secured first-place finishes in their respective divisions of Run Saipan’s Route 36 5K race.

Under the early 6:30 a.m. glow of the sunrise, participants ran through a scenic road loop that highlighted the raw beauty of Saipan’s eastern coastline.

The men’s division became a family affair. Victor Nash Santos set a blistering pace from the start, crossing the line as the overall first-place finisher with a time of 19:19. He was followed closely by his brother, Victor Neil Santos, who secured second place in 20:08, while Eugene Olivar rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 22:41.

In the women’s division, Shawna Brennfleck led the pack with ease, finishing first with a solid time of 26:56. An Bang took the runner-up spot in 27:46, while Adriana Tamparong earned third place, finishing just under the 30-minute mark in 29:58.

The U18 categories also came out to compete, showcasing the depth of up-and-coming distance talent.

In the boys’ division, Joaquin Cruzana claimed the top spot with a time of 24:10, followed by Von Lauron in 26:36 and Alfred Jebehn in 28:43.

In the girls’ division, Sireane Deleon Guerrero took first place in 36:01, while Chloe Shin finished second in 44:47.
