THE 2025–2026 triathlon season is sprinting toward a scenic conclusion as the Triathlon Association of the CNMI prepares to host the Saipan Olympic Triathlon & 10K Run this Sunday, April 12.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Paupau Beach, the event serves as the culminating race of a successful season, offering athletes a chance to test their mettle against the elements of Saipan’s northern coast.

The event will feature two primary categories catering to different endurance levels: the Olympic Distance Triathlon — the premier event of the morning, challenging athletes with a 1.5K swim, a 40K bike leg, and a 10K run — and the 10K Run, a standalone race for those looking to focus purely on pace and stamina.

Relay teams and families are also encouraged to participate, as TRAC has opened the event to all athletes aged 16 and older. The competition will be governed by official World Triathlon rules.

Athletes are advised to arrive early, as mandatory briefings are required for all participants to ensure safety and course familiarity. TRAC has noted that athlete safety remains the top priority. A weather and environmental advisory is currently in place; in the event of inclement weather or the presence of jellyfish, officials may modify the course to ensure a safe competition environment.

The event also serves as preparation for the upcoming Marianas Games, Oceania Games, and the 2026 World Triathlon Age-Group Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.
