PAIRE Football Club gained their second win in the Marianas Soccer League 2 Spring 2025 by outlasting Matansa Football Club, 2-1, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Sunday.

Paire entered the match hungry for a win, and it showed from the very start of the opening half. Their aggression caught Matansa by surprise, giving David Whitfield the opportunity to slip a shot past the keeper and find the back of the net in the 2nd minute.

MFC made sure not to repeat the same mistake, completely closing off any openings and turning each stop into a chance to score. Although they ended the first half empty-handed, so did PFC.

The halftime break seemed to have rejuvenated PFC. Applying constant pressure, the team eventually gained control of possession, with Chad Taflinger scoring in the 39th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.

But MFC did not show signs of waving the white flag, and 10 minutes later, broke the silence thanks to Gabriel Arkoh. However, they failed to score another goal before the game clock expired and had to settle for defeat, 2-1.
