PROSPECT 2 and Jr. Ol’Aces kicked off the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation 2025 15U Basketball League by besting their respective opponents at the Koblerville gym on Saturday.

Prospect 2 blew past the YG Rollers, 54-23.

Prospects 2 managed to set the tone in the opening quarter by showcasing a well-rounded performance. On offense, the team’s unselfish ball movement created scoring opportunities with Kory Chaikhamjan notching six points. Defensively, they left the YG Rollers with very little room to breathe as they were allowed only six points while Prospects 2 seized the lead with confidence, 16-6.

Although the YG Rollers began to find their rhythm in the second quarter with more shot attempts, they continued to struggle, as only Lysander Domingo managed to score, draining two three-pointers. Meanwhile, Prospects 2 continued to dominate, with Edward Manibusan catching fire and taking over the offensive spotlight with seven points — including an and-one play — to widen the gap to 30-14.

The YG Rollers delivered their best defensive performance in the third quarter, holding Prospects 2 to just six points. However, they couldn’t capitalize, managing only six points themselves and remaining behind, 36-20.

In the fourth and final quarter, the YG Rollers delivered only three points, while Prospects 2 reignited their offense with a dominant 16-3 run to close out the game strong, 54-23.

Joining them in the winner’s circle were the Jr. Ol’Aces, who edged out Prospects 1 in a hard-fought 39-36 victory.
