MARIANAS High School’s varsity team is building up a win streak in the boys high school division of the PSS-NMIBF Interscholastic Basketball League SY24-25, notching their second straight win by trouncing Grace Christian Academy, 53-23, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Wednesday.

MHS V established control right from the start.

The chemistry of their first-string players was evident in the first half, with offensive and defensive highlights from Elijah Ye, Carl Sanchez, and Kenny Laquian, who capitalized on each successful stop with fastbreak finishes to score seven points each.

GCA’s Briston Jones and Ayden Yumul managed to find the bottom of the net, but due to MHS’s relentlessness on the defensive end, GCA missed more shots than they made, providing MHS with additional scoring opportunities to further stretch the gap to 26-14.

The second half only solidified MHS V’s lead. Laquian and Marc Tengco continued their dominance, contributing eight points each, while Joseph Pangelinan took over the remainder of the game. GCA could only manage nine team points and had to settle for defeat, 53-23.
