Kimberlyn King-Hinds
U.S. Congresswoman-elect Kimberlyn King-Hinds said on Monday that she will honor the trust the people of the CNMI have placed in her.
King-Hinds, who will be sworn in on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 in Washington, D.C., told Variety that being elected as CNMI delegate “is a profound privilege entrusted to me by the people.”
“And since election day, I have woken up every day striving to honor that trust by listening to the concerns of our community so that I can better represent all voices and address the needs of everyone that calls the Marianas home,” she added.
A Republican from Tinian, this was King-Hinds’ first time running for an elective office. She will succeed Saipan Democrat Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan who did not seek a ninth term.
A lawyer, King-Hinds is the former board chair of the Commonwealth Ports Authority and served as special assistant for projects and community services to former Lt. Gov. Jesus “Pepero” R. Sablan. She was a member of the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission, a former legal counsel of the NMI Settlement Fund, and was the chair of the Northern Marianas College board of regents. On Tinian, she was the executive director of the Tinian Youth Center, and was chief of staff of the mayor’s office.
