SOPHIA Althea/Cafe Meraki claimed the U17 division championship of the 2nd Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club-Saipan MagaHaga Lady Eagles Group Basketball Tournament by manhandling Triple R Auto Parts, 101-67, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Sunday.
Spectators saw electrifying action with Sophia Althea/Cafe Meraki players displaying their dominance throughout the game.
Carl Sanchez was too much to handle from inside the paint, leading the run with 14 points while Dane Tibayan shot the lights out with three recorded triples and 15 points.
Triple R Auto Parts’ Onick Raybonshe and Christian Lucero tried to put up a fight, but their misses kept them behind while Sophia Althea/Cafe Meraki’s lead only grew further out of reach by halftime, 50-26.
Triple R Auto Parts fought valiantly, but the consistent performance of Sophia Althea/Café Merake proved too much to overcome. Kendrick Garcia, Kyrell Caraig, Quin Palacios, and Rey Castillo kept their team’s momentum by contributing a series of triples that eventually led to a blowout victory, 101-67.
Joining the podium finish were the Rollers I players, who clinched third place by edging their sibling team, Rollers II, 77-76.
