THE Office of U.S. Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds encourages all CNMI veterans to participate in the U.S. Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System PACT Act Registration and Community Call event. This is a unique opportunity for veterans to learn about the historic PACT Act, access health services, and get enrolled in VA health care if they have not yet done so.
“As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, advocating for more services, more outreach, and more facetime for CNMI veterans is one of my top priorities,” Congresswoman King-Hinds stated in a media release. “The PACT Act is a historic law that provides critical support to veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances during their service and their outreach this week is a great step toward improving the quality of service our veterans need. I strongly encourage all veterans in the CNMI to attend this event, get enrolled in VA health care, and learn more about the benefits and services available to them. Your service matters, and I am committed to ensuring that CNMI veterans receive the care and support they deserve and look forward to any feedback from you as to how services like this can be improved as we continue our work in Congress.”
The event will be held at the multi-purpose civic center on Beach Road, Susupe, on the following days and times:
• Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2024: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. (ChST)
• Thursday, Jan. 9, 2024: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ChST)
• Friday, Jan. 10, 2024: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ChST)
At the event, U.S. Veterans Affairs member service representatives will be on hand to assist veterans who have never enrolled or who have recently become eligible under the PACT Act. Veterans who are already enrolled in VA health care may also visit for health services, including diabetic foot checks, vaccines, and blood pressure screenings. Additionally, veterans will have the opportunity to ask questions about health services and benefits.
About the PACT Act
The PACT (Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics) Act is a landmark law designed to help veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances during their service. The law allows the VA to provide presumptive care and benefits for veterans suffering from more than 20 toxic exposure-related conditions. The PACT Act extends benefits to veterans, their spouses, and survivors, ensuring they have access to the care and services they deserve.
If you think you may be eligible for PACT Act benefits, here’s what you need to know:
