KIMIKO McKagan, Arvin Velasco and Fred Remilloso topped the Saipan Unity Lions Club 2024 Year-End Bike Race in Marpi on Sunday.
Titled “Pedal for Health,” the bike race featured two categories: one for road bikes and another for mountain bikes. Both the starting point and finish line were located at Banzai Cliff.
McKagan, a familiar figure in the local sports community, won first place in the women’s division of the road bike category, with Robyn Spaeth placing second and Heather Brook settling for third.
In the men’s division of the road bike category, Arvin Velasco finished first, Jay-R Barrios was second and Joel Buco came in third.
Fred Remilloso dominated the mountain bike race, with Leo Baetiong and Nap Dizon securing second and third place, respectively.
The race was a huge success, according to the Saipan Unity Lions Club officers, who thanked their families, friends and business community for their “unwavering support.”
They noted that local cyclists of all ages and skill levels came together to celebrate health, fitness and community spirit.
“The race not only provided an enjoyable and scenic cycling experience, but also raised significant awareness and funds for the Saipan Unity Lions Club’s community programs, which aim to create a positive impact in the Northern Marianas,” the club said.
