E-LAND and CPA trounced their respective opponents during their debut in the 2024 R&J Wine & Liquor Inter-Government/Business Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Tuesday.

E-Land eased their way past CUC, 74-55, in the opening game of the night.

E-Land had firepower at their disposal, and it showed in the opening quarter. James Abuy delivered a three-pointer while Johnathan Gunnacao and Reymark Castro took over the spotlight with five and four points, respectively, to give their team an 18-12 lead.

In the second quarter, CUC shooters Gerald Pangelinan, Franko Nakamura and Arvin Daluyen found their stroke with each connecting a triple. However, E-Land continued to find the bottom of the net with Abuy leading the highlight reel by scoring 14 points to further stretch the gap, 45-27.

CUC’s biggest run came in the third period as they played more aggressively on both ends, holding E-Land to 13 team points while Pangelinan and Jester Taisacan combined for 10 points to cut the deficit, 46-58.

But CUC lost touch in the final 10 minutes, putting up only nine points while E-Land regained momentum through unselfish plays en route to victory, 74-55.

CPA vs Coca Cola

CPA displayed dominance over Coca Cola, 81-59.

CPA controlled the tone of the game with an aggressive first-quarter performance orchestrated by Donovan Brennan, who drew a handful of fouls and converted five points from the charity line.

Michael Mancao also delivered while Gerg Deleon Guerrero shot the lights out from beyond the arc for a 10-point CPA lead, 23-13.

In the second canto, Coca Cola’s Jun Escalada and Aeron Villacrusis had an answer for every shot made on the other end. Defensively, however, they failed to close the lanes and allowed CPA to continuously penetrate with ease with David Camacho and Frank Robert joining the fray to seal the deal, 81-59.
