Kanoa’s Paul Lizama and MPU’s Jim Takeru lock legs in a battle for the possession during a U17 boys division game of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024 at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Saturday.
THE Kanoa Football Club has maintained an unblemished record in the U17 boys division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024, securing their 5th straight win by defeating MP United Football Club 2-0 at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Saturday.
MPU had their mind set on one thing — to score. But that was easier said than done as they spent the majority of the time defending against the ever-aggressive KNFC.
The early portion of the first half was filled with back-and-forth action, but effort and commitment were the key factors for KNFC as they eventually overwhelmed MPU with continuous pressure, setting up Tyler Omelau for the finish in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead.
MPU still had plenty of time for redemption but were caught in possession in most of their attempts.
In the second half, KNFC played more cautiously while MPU continued their pursuit to even the score. However, KNFC turned defense into offense led by Omelau, who found the back of the net at the 62nd minute mark to seal the deal, 2-0.
Matansa vs Latte
The Matansa Football Club are now in third place after bagging their fourth win by trouncing Latte Football Club, 7-2.
MFC went on a rampage right from the start, scoring four straight goals in the first half. Nolan Ngewekl stood at the frontline of the assault with two goals (17th, 27th), alongside Jerome Mettao (4th). LCC inadvertently scored in their own goal (35th).
LFC’s Zhi Lin contributed two goals — one at the 41st and the other at the 67th minute mark — but MFC responded with two goals courtesy of Jayvin Bisek and Ngewakl, who completed a hat-trick at the 71st minute mark to solidify MFC’s victory, 7-2.
