(CCA) — On Oct. 12, 2024, the Commonwealth Cancer Association hosted the “Hakuna-My-Tatas Zumbathon” as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event took place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, attracting over 175 attendees. The CCA team is pleased to report that the fundraiser generated proceeds exceeding $5,000.
Franko Deleon Guerrero, community outreach and marketing coordinator, led the planning and organization of the event, with support from Mercilia Teigita, the client services and administrative coordinator, who served as the master of ceremonies.
The CCA team selected a Zumba-themed fundraiser to promote fitness and healthy weight management, which can help reduce the risk of breast cancer. The Zumba class featured three talented Zumba groups: (1) 670 I Love Zumba, led by Zin Marina Reyes, (2) Unity Is Love Zumba Dance Fitness, led by Zin Abby Whang, and (3) XTREME Fitness670, led by Zin Mitch Olita and Coach Angelo Galfo
The CCA team expresses heartfelt gratitude to these remarkable instructors for their dedication and for generously donating their time and expertise in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
During the fundraiser, the CCA team partnered up with CHCC Public Health, which provided blood pressure and blood sugar checks. The CCA team and the attendees were grateful that CHCC was providing their services at no cost!
