THE Hookup holds the distinction of being named the Best Cannabis Shop in Marianas Variety’s Best of the Marianas contest this year.

“We are a 100% hydroponic farm, closely collaborating with our two sister companies in the [U.S.] mainland to ensure the production of safe, top-shelf cannabis for our customers,” Malin said.
High standards
By following established protocols, The Hookup guarantees its products meet the same high standards, knowing they are tested in accredited laboratories in the United States, said Malin. “In doing so, we prioritize the safety of both our business and our consumers. Given the absence of local testing facilities, these measures are essential to deliver premium and clean cannabis products in the CNMI,” he added.
Operations manager Jen Sambile says The Hookup staff follow a personalized approach in matching customers to cannabis.
They begin by speaking with their customers to understand their preferences, experience level, and desired effects. They also ask questions about how the customer intends to use the cannabis, which can include finding out if the customer needs it for relaxation, pain relief, creativity, or other purposes, Sambile said.
They also provide information about different strains, including their effects, flavors, and aromas, helping customers understand the differences between strains.
“Based on their responses, we suggest strains that align with their needs, highlighting the benefits of each option,” Sambile said. “We encourage customers to try samples and share their experiences, allowing us to refine future recommendations based on their feedback.”
She says their “commitment to quality, consistency, and customer care” are what keep their steady customer base coming back. Their goal is to deliver high-quality products, understanding of customers’ needs, and a welcoming atmosphere, she adds.
“Our attention to detail and willingness to listen to customer feedback ensure we always meet their evolving needs,” Sambile says. “This combination builds trust and loyalty, making The Hookup a go-to destination.”

The Hookup is located in Garapan, on the second floor of the commercial building on the corner lot of the intersection of Kalachucha Avenue and Route 308. Inside, The Hookup offers a diverse selection of hybrid, indica, and sativa strains in various forms, including pre-rolls, Jeeter joints, and blunt-sized sprinkle joints.
“Our product range features light-tier to premium-grade flowers, as well as hash, rosin, and moonrocks for those seeking an enhanced experience beyond traditional pre-rolls and flowers,” says Sambile. “We are dedicated to helping you achieve the perfect state of euphoric relaxation.”
Elevating the cannabis scene
In the coming year, The Hookup wants to continue building on its success, Sambile and Malin say.
“The future of The Hookup is focused on growth, innovation and deepening our connection with the community,” Malin said. “We plan to expand our product offerings, explore new trends in the cannabis industry, and continue to enhance the customer experience.”
Sambile says they want to “elevate the local cannabis scene.”
Exciting things are coming just a few miles south of Saipan as well, Malin adds.
“We’ve already secured a facility on Tinian to expand our business to the neighboring islands, which is a key part of our growth strategy,” he said. “Our vision is to grow our product line, introduce unique offerings, and enter new markets while maintaining the personalized service and community focus that have been central to our success. Ultimately, we want The Hookup to be known for top-tier products and a commitment to setting industry standards.”
He hopes to become a regional “benchmark for quality and innovation.”
