The CIC building in Dandan on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.
SOME tenants of the three-story CIC building in Dandan said on Tuesday that they had been without running water for the past two days.
“The whole apartment building has no water,” said a staffer of one of the building’s tenants.
Daniel Durkin, a longtime tenant of the building, told Variety that the water service interruption issue at CIC is a recurring problem due to water pump failure.
“I had called many government agencies, including the Office of Consumer Counsel, Housing, DPS, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation, but they can’t do anything,” Durkin said.
“The problem is that the landlord kept buying a water pump that is not suitable for this building. She kept buying water pumps that keep breaking after a few months,” Durkin said.
Another tenant, who requested anonymity, said, “On Monday the water was very slow, today no water.”
At around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Variety saw a CUC water technician inspecting the water meter of the building. He said “The service water pipe has good water so it’s probably the customer side that has issues.”
Asked for comment, Zheng Chong, the CIC building operator, told Variety that there was water, but the pressure was “very low.”
“Tomorrow, Wednesday at 9 a.m. we are replacing the water pump,” Chong added.
