Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang extended a warm welcome to Commander Thomas “Matt” Adams and the crew of the USS Spruance during their visit on Monday morning. The USS Spruance, a guided missile destroyer with a crew of about 329, is docked in Saipan for a scheduled port call through Thursday, marking the sixth military vessel to anchor in the CNMI in the past 12 months. These port calls provide an opportunity for crew members to disembark and explore the island of Saipan, fostering goodwill and strengthening the relationship between the military and the local community while underscoring the strategic importance of the CNMI in regional security.
