THE Saipan Unity Lions Club on Saturday, July 27 inducted its new officers and members for Lion Year 2024-2025 at the Royal Taga Hall of Saipan World Resort.
Officers and members of 11 other Lions Clubs on Saipan attended the event.

Past District Governor Lynda Tolan, who is also a past Melvin Jones Fellow or PMJF, inducted new members Adritz Buensalido and Nicole Jane Mozunder as Leo-Lions of the Saipan Unity Lions Club. The third new member is Frederick Dela Santa.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship or MJF is a recognition given by Lions Clubs International Foundation to individuals who donate $1,000 to LCIF. The fellowship is named after Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Clubs International.
Immediate Past President Lion Bongbong Martinez delivered the opening remarks while Lion Argie Buensalido, MJF introduced the other Lions and guests. Lion Joy Marybeth Regacho and Lion Alicia Barbo, MJF were the masters of ceremonies.

Bongbong Martinez thanked the members for their dedication and hard work during the past Lion year and expressed hope that the new officers will continue the club’s legacy.
Tamparong, the new president, delivered her acceptance speech while Lion Birhen Martinez read a congratulatory letter from Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang.
The inspirational message was delivered by past District Governor Tolan. A video of the congratulatory message from District Governor Roy Adonay, PMJF was played on the screen as well as a message of congratulations from First Vice District Governor Ron Hidalgo, PMJF.
Past President/Lions Club International Foundation Coordinator Lindie Mae Moleno, MJF awarded Melvin Jones Fellow plaques to Tamparong, MJF and Alegre, MJF for their contributions to the LCI Foundation.
Bongbong Martinez handed appreciation awards to eight past presidents. Jose Pepito Digno, MJF was named Lion of the Year.
Lion Mary Ann David closed the program which was then adjourned by Tamparong.
The primary goal of Lions Clubs International is to “empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding.”
