
Saipan native U.S. Army Lt. Col. Edward C. Camacho retired on June 26, 2024 after 43 years of service. Camacho enlisted in the Army in 1980 and has served in various locations including the Korean DMZ, Camp Casey and Hovey, Korea, Fort Drum, NY, LSA Anaconda/Joint Air Base Ballad, Iraq, Yongsan, Korea, Guam, Camp Zama, Japan, Fort Hood, TX, Camp Kalsu, Iraq, Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Fort Shafter, HI, Hofuf in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jerusalem and the West Bank in Israel, Vicenza, Italy, and Okinawa, Japan. Camacho also served as CNMI Department of Public Safety commissioner. On June 26, 2024, Camacho was awarded the Order of Saint Maurice, Centurion and the Meritorious Service Medal for his 40 years of service as an infantry officer.
