THE Braves Jr. ended the 2024 NSA Youth Baseball League season by scoring in nearly every inning to outshine the Phillies Jr., 11-4, and win the junior division title at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Baseball Field on Sunday.
The Phillies Jr. attempted to set the tone early by outing the first batter. But the Braves Jr. quickly turned the tides as Aiken Norita and Herman Iguel broke the silence with singles and were later brought in for two earned runs to give their team the upper hand, 2-0.
In the second inning, the Phillies Jr. tried to stop the bleeding and collected two consecutive outs, but the Braves Jr. continued to cause havoc infield by stealing bases and capitalizing off errors to slip in two more runs.
However, the Braves Jr. also struggled defensively and allowed two runs to slip by as the Phillies Jr. cut the lead, 2-4.
The Braves Jr. added two runs in the third and one in the fifth while the Phillies Jr. notched one in the third and another in the fifth to remain within reach.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Phillies Jr. suddenly fell into a defensive slump, which allowed the Braves Jr. to bring in four consecutive runs and seize a comfortable 11-4 lead.
Phillies Jr. tried to cut down the deficit as they silenced the Braves Jr. in the top of the seventh and final inning. However, they, too, failed to score and had to settle for defeat, 4-11.
The championship game was followed by an awards ceremony.
In overall third place was the Blue Jays Jr. while the Phillies Jr. claimed the Pennant and the Comets Jr. won the Sportsmanship title.
The Season MVP was Austin Camacho while the Championship MVP was Herman Iguel.
The Batting Champ was Jequinn Lizama; the Most Runs awardee was Caleb Cabrera; the Most Doubles Award went to Damian Palacios; the Most Triples Award went to Stanley Iakopo; and the Most Homeruns awardee was Zekiel Falig.
