
SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo has sentenced Nores Langu to 40 days in jail for driving under the influence of alcohol.
It was Langu’s fifth DUI conviction.
Judge Govendo ordered Langu to report to the Department of Corrections on June 16 at 6 p.m. He will be released on July 25 at 6 p.m. He was given 24 hours’ credit for time served.
Langu was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and his driver’s license was revoked for a year starting on June 4.
After serving his sentence, Langu will be placed on two-year probation, and will pay $265 in court and probation fees.
Judge Govendo also sentenced Laurence Sablan, Ryan Aquino, Ming Cong, Lucas Rayphand, Zongwen Li, Yuee Ma and Eliah Santos for DUI.
Except for Langu (fifth DUI), and Rayphand (second DUI), this is the first time the defendants had been convicted of DUI.
Sablan will serve three days in jail, from June 5-7 and pay a $500 fine. His driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. He will also be placed on six months’ probation, and pay $85 in court and probation fees.
Aquino will serve three days in jail, from June 14-16 and pay a fine of $500. His driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. He will be placed on one-year probation and serve 40 hours of community service. He will pay $145 in court and probation fees.
Cong will serve three days in jail, from June 11-15, pay a fine of $500, and his driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. Cong will likewise be placed on one-year probation, and perform 40 hours of community service. He will pay $145 in probation and court fees.
Li will serve three days in jail, from June 28-30, pay a fine of $500 and his driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. He will be placed on one-year probation and perform 40 hours of community service. The defendant will also pay $145 in probation and court fees.
Rayphand will serve three days in jail, from July 12-14, pay a fine of $500 and his driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. He will be placed on six months’ probation and pay $85 in probation and court fees.
Ma will serve seven days in jail, from June 1-7, and pay a fine of $500. Ma’s driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days. He will be placed on one-year probation and perform 40 hours of community service. Ma will pay $145 in probation and court fees.
Eliah Santos will serve four days in jail, from June 5-9, and pay a fine of $500. Santos, whose driver’s license will be suspended for 30 days, will be placed on one-year probation and perform 40 hours of community service. He will pay $145 in probation and court fees.
All the defendants were given 24 hours’ credit for time served.
