Arnold I. Palacios
GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios is attending the Micronesian Islands Forum from June 3 to 5, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
On Friday, he issued a memorandum informing department and agency heads that he would be off island from June 2, 2024, to June 7, 2024, on official business. He said Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang will be acting governor until his return, and asked them to extend their full cooperation and assistance to Apatang.
This year’s invitation to the forum came from Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerreo. Guam is hosting the other leaders of the territories and island nations that are members of the Micronesian Islands Forum, a regional intergovernmental organization.
Established in 1994, the Forum has held regular meetings since then. The last meeting was held on Feb. 13, to 17, 2023, in Pohnpei, the Federated States of Micronesia.
According to Gov. Leon Guerrero, the forum will feature “esteemed governors, presidents, and representatives from all over Micronesia, working together to strengthen ties, further collaboration, and deepen commitments throughout the region. Our Guam public is encouraged to register for this free event and participate in learning and growing together.”
The Forum members are the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, the Territory of Guam, the Republic of Nauru, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the FSM states of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae.
