SSHS Advanced Placement students present research to PSS officials

(PSS) — Saipan Southern High School’s Advanced Placement students on Friday presented their academic research work to Public School System officials led by Commissioner of Education Dr. Lawrence F. Camacho.

The AP students are Christopher Mauricio (11th grade-early graduate), Aleeza Castro (11th grade-early graduate), Tao Jin (11th grade), Justin Afable (11th grade), Simon Tang (11th grade), and Jared Borja (11th grade).

They have immersed themselves in the research process and other related work to explore various academic topics and problems such as the Covid-19 pandemic, theft and burglary on Saipan, mental health and trauma.

During their presentation at the Office of the Commissioner of Education on Capital Hill, they were accompanied by teachers-advisers Dr. Dora B. Miura, Pre-AP Geometry and AP Research; and Kadmiel Rey, Pre-AP English Language and AP Seminar.

Education Commissioner Camacho lauded the AP students for their keen interest in research and exploration.
