NMTech new student orientation on April 12; first day of classes on April 15

STUDENT orientation for the Northern Marianas Technical Institute’s mid-spring course session for Baking and Pastry as well Cosmetology begins on April 12 at 3 p.m. while the first day of classes start on April 15, according to NMTech marketing and communications coordinator Ben Babauta.

The orientation will be in Room 3 at the NMTech Lower Base campus.

The orientation for the CORE Fundamentals course is set for April 15, at 3 p.m. in Room 4.

The last day to register for the mid-spring session is today, Wednesday, April 10.

Babauta said NMTech is partnering with the CNMI Department of Labor’s pre-apprenticeship program, which can pay for the tuition of those who will sign up for CORE Fundamentals.

CORE is an introductory course for trade skills and include basic safety, introduction to construction math, introduction to hand tools, introduction to power tools, and more. The course has 85 credit hours.

Besides paying for training at NMTech, DOL can also finance a three-month internship with local business partners, Babauta said.

Additionally, NMTech has an in-house scholarship program for its welding course.
