
THE Department of Public Safety responded to 138 criminal incidents and 21 traffic-related cases from April 14-20, 2024.
The department’s public information officer, Police Sgt. Fred Sato, provided a copy of the police blotter statistics to reporters on Wednesday evening, saying that of the 138 incidents, 95 were 911 service calls to the police.
Police arrested 12 individuals during the same period, Sato said.
In addition, police responded to two assault incidents; five assault and battery incidents; two assault with a dangerous weapon incidents; one nuisance incident; seven domestic violence incidents; 70 disturbing the peace incidents; four criminal mischief incidents; two criminal trespass incidents; three child abuse/neglect incidents; two illegal possession incidents; 10 burglary incidents; and 30 theft incidents.
As for traffic cases, DPS responded to six auto-auto crash incidents; one auto-bicycle incident; seven auto parked vehicle incidents; five auto hit and run incidents; two auto fixed object incidents; and one vehicle theft incident.
The statistics are based on calls made to 911 dispatchers and the responses from police officers, Sato said.
“All active criminal complaints are taken, then forwarded to our Criminal Investigation Bureau. All traffic-related incidents, including fatality reported crashes, are forwarded to our Highway Patrol Investigation units,” Sato added.
