LOCAL Girls Marianas on Tuesday announced that they will honor Earth Day with a Mini Night Market on April 22 at the Saipan and Northern Islands Memorial Kiosku in Chalan Kanoa.
The kiosku is located across from the U.S. Post Office and Kada Dia Market, whose vendors will remain open for the duration of the mini night market.
As always, the Mini Night Market is a dedicated space for local arts and crafts vendors in a “cozy” community environment. The night’s emcee is Miss Earth Jan Cruz.
Tiara Deleon Guerrero, Local Girls Marianas co-founder, said she and business partner Ashley Pangelinan have asked vendors to follow eco-friendly themes to the best of their abilities.
“We always strongly suggest [featuring] an item that’s close to the theme, but mostly we asked them to stay as close as they can to have eco-friendly wrapping,” she said. “And if they can provide an item that is in the vein of Earth Day in terms of décor or natural resources.”
Vendors at this Mini Night Market include Kiara’s Garden, Thai Plant Lady, Marianas Nature, Nature Treasures, NMI Artistry & Designs, Leis with LoVee, Tahine’s Creations, Paopao, Candle J Saipan, Galuti Club, Tropic Threads, Tanny’s Crafts, JB’s, Isla Krafty Corner, Islandry670, Holymacs, Tropic Treats 670 and Coco Bear Cookies.
Deleon Guerrero and Pangelinan will also feature their lemonade brand — Local Girls Lemonada — at the market. Customers can receive a $1 discount if they bring a reusable container.
Other featured booths at the market include the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance, the Division of Coastal Resources Management, Come Play With Us Pet Services, NMC-Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Services, Saipan Kitten and Cat Rescue, and the Boonie Babies.
Cultural expert and traditional voyager Lino Olopai will be there to sign copies of his book, “The Rope of Tradition.” Local Girls Marianas encourages residents who own unsigned copies to bring them to the Mini Night Market.
