DANDAN Middle School celebrated twice as hard as both its teams emerged victorious in the girls middle school division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League SY23-24, which kicked off at the Marianas High School gym on Monday.
DMS’ varsity team trounced Mount Carmel School, 21-8.
In the first half, DMS’ Anissa Masga opened the scoreboard with the first bucket while teammate Shaenna Yamada seized the spotlight by delivering 11 points. MCS could convert three points only to trail 3-13.
In the second half, MCS showed more confidence as Aubrey Quitugua took over the offense with five points, including one three-pointer.
However, Yamada delivered four points while teammates Roswele Castillo and Normaine Nate contributed a bucket each to maintain the safe distance en route to a convincing 21-8 victory.
For their part, DMS’ junior varsity team nearly silenced Chacha Oceanview Middle School, 12-2. Elena Kani and Melody Taitano carried their team to victory with six and four points respectively.
Joining the winner’s circle was Grace Christian Academy which routed Tanapag Middle School, 26-2.
