KANOA and MP United football clubs are now in a three-way tie with Shirley’s for the top spot in the Tinekcha-Awaal Division of the Spring 2024 Dove Women’s League after earning their third win at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Sunday.
Kanoa FC outmanned Shirley’s FC with a strong second half performance, 3-1.
KNFC established control of the tempo early in the first half as they penetrated through the line of defense within the first four minutes, allowing Irish Pagarao to find the back of the net and seize the lead, 1-0.
SFC made sure not to repeat the same mistake and adjusted their defense accordingly, but KNFC also defended well to maintain its lead.
After the halftime break, SFC’s attempt to play more aggressively paid off as they caught KNFC off guard, allowing Jannah Casarino to score at the 49th minute mark and even the score, 1-1.
But SFC’s momentum was short-lived as they were eventually overwhelmed by KNFC’s constant pressure with Kaithlyn Chavez outmaneuvering her defenders with ease and sinking back-to-back goals at the 66th and 68th minute marks to secure the win, 3-1.
MPU was also victorious, silencing Paire FC, 3-0.
Jo Cardelle led MPU’s offense, delivering a goal at the 4th minute mark, followed by Pia Ngewakl who scored at the 9th and 30th minute marks.
