(MVA) — The natural beauty and other attractions of the Marianas were recently promoted by the Marianas Visitors Authority at the annual Yeouido Spring Flower Festival in Seoul, South Korea.
As Seoul’s signature cherry blossom festival, the celebration attracted approximately 5,000,000 people to enjoy the beautiful blossoms in the city center from last Friday (March 29) through Tuesday (April 2).
The festival, now in its 18th year, was held at Yeoui-seo-ro park with the theme of “Spring Flower Picnic,” providing picnic zones where visitors could enjoy spring.
As the only destination featured at the festival, MVA hosted an event booth — decorated in a blue reminiscent of the pristine waters of the Marianas — where festivalgoers engage in fun games, crafts, and other activities to learn more about the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. Highlighting the activities were mwar-making, coconut leaf waving, and banana painting by Marianas artisans Glenn Ruben and Edrina Rabauliman. Festivalgoers will have a chance to test their knowledge of
Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to win prizes, and a raffle draw was to be held, with the grand prize being two roundtrip airline tickets from Seoul to Saipan.
“As the Korean public embraces spring and begins looking ahead to summer, the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival is the perfect time to plant the idea of travelling to the Marianas in coming months and intrigue those individuals making summer travel plans,” said MVA Managing Director Christopher A. Concepcion. “This amazing festival under the cherry blossoms in downtown Seoul also was an opportunity to convey the warm and hospitality of the Marianas, as well as a bit of our nature through the arts and crafts we shared.”
Marianas tourism partners — including eight hotel and resorts, two airlines, and six other local businesses — were promoted at the booth, and 13 Korean travel agencies promoted their Marianas travel products via QR codes.
Participating partners were Coral Ocean Resort, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, Grandvrio Resort Saipan, Kensington Hotel Saipan, LaoLao Bay Golf Resort, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Saipan World Resort, Surfrider Resort Hotel, Jeju Air, T’way, Hertz Car Rental, Great Harvest, Surf Club Saipa, Sea Touch, Skydive Saipan, and WACO. Travel agencies promoting their Marianas travel products were Airtel.com, Bomulsum Tour, Gotouro, Hana Tour, Mode Tour, Interpark, Kyowon, My Real Trip, Online Tour, Tour Baksa, Very Good Tour, Webtour, and Yellow Balloon Tour.
