PORT VILA (Pacnews) — The chairman of the Melanesian Spearhead Group, Roch Wamytan, is here in Vanuatu this week to pay a courtesy call on the prime minister, Edward Natapei.
He is there on the invitation of Natapei, who was recently re-elected as the country’s leader.
During their discussion in Port Vila, Wamytan and Natapei are expected to focus on MSG’s ties with other regional and international organizations such as the Fiji-based 16-nation Pacific Islands Forum and the United Nations.
The two Melanesian leaders have also agreed to the dates of the Melanesian Arts Festival. It will be held in Port Vila between Aug. 18-28.
Under Wamytan’s leadership of the MSG, the summit of leaders was first held in Noumea in July last year.
