AN economic mission led by Tinian and Commonwealth Ports Authority officials left for Manila and Hong Kong last week to discuss Tinian’s economic development with potential investors.
Sen. David M. Cing, D-Tinian, CPA finance director Rex Palacios, CPA directors Reynaldo M. Cing and Roman T. Tudela will present a plan to develop a Tinian special economic zone that would house manufacturing companies and factories.
The plan includes the development of Tinian as a major fishing and shipping destination that provides such services as home porting, freight-handling and transshipping.
The Cings visited Manila and proceeded to Clark Development Authority and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority—the two special economic zones located in the former U.S. bases.
Tudela and Palacios went to Hong Kong where they would meet the Cings for a two-day business meeting with investors beginning today.
They will discuss seaport and airport concessions, tariff and related incentives with investors which would include businessmen from Taiwan and Hong Kong.
