Accounting exams may be held on Saipan

The Philippine Consulate General is working closely with CNMI authorities to bring the annual licensure exam for accountants to Saipan.

The U.S. CPA examination is currently being conducted on Guam.

According to Philippine Consul General Julia Heidemann, the prevents some examinees from taking the test due to their lack of U.S. visas.

In the past, she said, a group of examinees failed to make it to the scheduled exam due to the visa requirement.

“So we’re exploring ways to bring it here instead,” Heidemann said in a recent interview.

She said she is holding discussions with the Office of the Public Auditor on the matter.

Heidemann said conducting the examination on Saipan would also boost local tourism.

“It would be good for the tourism industry in the CNMI,” she said.

The consulate general, she said, will help find ways to help boost local industries such as tourism.

Her office is also facilitating the entry of Filipino nurses to take the National Council Licensing Examination at Northern Marianas College.
