Global Country willing to re-negotiate with Rota

Global Country of World Peace officials on Friday said Rota Mayor Benjamin Manglona had offered to re-negotiate with them.

Rota lawmakers on Wednesday said they turned down Global Country’s “tempting” but “unacceptable” proposal. They said Global Country was willing to wire in $500 million but only if Rota would declare itself an independent nation.

Dr. Emanuel Schiffgens, the “prime minister” of the organization, said Manglona told him and their “king,” Vishva Prashasaj Raja Nader Raam, of his plans to revive the talks.

Schiffgens said they had no plans to meet with other Rota officials. The re-negotiations can be held through tele-conferencing, e-mail and fax, he said.

Dr. Christopher Wege, Global Country’s “minister of commerce and industry,” said Manglona “feels that there is a chance and he can convince enough people (so they can) go forward.”

Wege said the collapse of the talks was due to a “misunderstanding and miscommunication” between them and Rota officials over the issue of sovereignty.

He also clarified that the $500 million they were willing to provide Rota was the amount of their proposed investments.

In a separate interview, Senate President Paul A. Manglona, R-Rota, said he was not aware of any proposed re-negotiation with Global Country.

But if the talks will be revived, a task force should handle the negotiations, he said.
