Natibu, Familia Volcanoes score victories

(SSA) – Team Natibu, Familia, and Verizon Volcanoes each posted victories last Tuesday in the resumption of the Saipan Softball Association Men’s Slowpitch League.

In the first game of the evening, brothers Ned and Bruce Norita and Joe Saures each hammered out two home runs as Team Natibu defeated the Ngiwal 79-er’s, 20-15. Natibu led 11-10 after three innings of play, but scored nine of the last fourteen runs to pull away for the win.

The second game of the evening was an upset as Team Familia posted a, 20-14, victory over the Primos. Familia trailed 12-9 heading into the top of the seventh inning but exploded for eleven runs on eleven hits to take the lead for good, 20-12. Pete Tomokane went 5 for 5 and Chris Alepuyu drove in three runs to lead Familia.

In the third and final game of the evening, the league leading Verizon Volcanoes kept their lead with a, 13-5, victory over Team Fadang. Julian Camacho and Brady Ubedei each ripped two home runs and Gloyd Martin and Francis George each hit one to lead the Volcanoes. Fadang took a, 3-0, lead after an inning of play, but were outscored 13-2 the rest of the way for the loss
