GLOBAL Country of World Peace officials will meet with Rota lawmakers to present the details of their plan to make the island the “peace capital” of the world.
The group was given until May 23 to present their plan.
Sen. Ricardo S. Atalig, R-Rota and chairman of the island’s legislative delegation, said Global Country would construct infrastructure facilities throughout the island.
The various projects would cost some $1 billion, he said.
Global Country wants to build a Peace Palace “bigger than England’s Buckingham Palace.” The Peace Palace will have a “platinum” boulevard, cascading fountains and a golf course with “talking trees and singing rocks,” Atalig said.
Global Country also intends to build an international airport for World Peace Airlines, a landing dock for World Peace ships and cruises, an international “flower garden,” a “terrace mountain garden,” a World Peace monument, waterfalls, and a monorail encircling the island in “clockwise direction.”
A portion of the island will be turned into a “forested area” with selected “medicinal trees.”
Global Country originally requested to lease for 55 years some 40 hectares of land on Rota. This will require the approval of the Legislature.
The senator said public hearings were conducted by the Rota Mayor’s Office in Sinapalo and Songsong villages and “most of the residents were receptive and supportive” of the plan.
