REPRESENTATIVE Stanley T. Torres, in a report submitted to the Saipan and Northern Islands legislative delegation yesterday, concluded that the complaint by Marianne C. Teregeyo, special assistant for correspondence of the Department of Land and Natural Resources, “is legitimate and convincing.”
“Ms. Teregeyo’s complaint indeed has weight. There is a conspiracy and fraud denying her of her games and rides during the 2001 Liberation Day activities,” Torres, R-Saipan, said.
He said his letter last year regarding the “impropriety and discriminatory handling of Ms. Teregeyo was not refuted in writing.”
Torres said during the judging of the floats, the committee changed the rules. He said Garapan Elementary School was the only school in the school category for floats, but it was placed in the community category. Thus, he said, the school was “cheated of its first prize money.”
