Jorgensen asks court to seize gov’t account

ATTORNEY Bruce Jorgensen has asked the federal court to issue an order seizing the CNMI government’s financial account to satisfy a court judgment awarding him $13,430 in attorney’s fees.

Jorgensen said that on Sept. 8, 2000, U.S. District Court Judge Alex R. Munson rendered judgment for attorney’s fees against the CNMI government in connection with James E. Hollman’s lawsuit.

No part of this judgment has been paid or satisfied, said Jorgensen in Hollman’s writ for a writ of execution.

He said the CNMI owns rights and interests in the form of a government financial account containing money specifically appropriated for the purpose of paying judgments.

Jorgensen told Variety that he decided to file the motion after the government asked him to pay $150 in exchange for documents he requested related to the asylum case.

Court records showed that Hollman, in his lawsuit against the CNMI government, asked the court to command the Superior Court to immediately pay him all interest accrued on the $833,334 deposited by the CNMI judiciary in “trust” for him.

Hollman, guardian for Larry Hillblom’s alleged son Vo Minh Tan, wanted the court to declare Public Law 11-105 unconstitutional as it allegedly took his property without due process of law.
