Poker attendant murdered

A POKER attendant was murdered in Tanapag yesterday morning.

The 35-year-old victim was found dead at Candi’s Poker at 6:19 a.m., according to the Department of Public Safety’s spokesman, Police Lt. Pete C. Muna.

Muna said investigators suspected that robbery was the motive behind the killing.

Muna said it was the manager of the establishment who discovered the victim’s body.

Investigators believed that the attendant was beaten up.

Muna said the victim’s identity was not yet available, adding that the owner of the poker center was off island

No other details were given in the report as investigation was still ongoing, but the manager told Variety yesterday that the victim was Mustafa Fruck.

The manager said he found Fruck lying in a pool of blood in the cashier’s room. He believed that the suspects stole an estimated $1,500 cash.

The manager added that it was the first time the establishment was robbed.

As of press time yesterday afternoon, several police officers were still gathering evidence and interviewing people at the crime scene.

Candi’s Poker is located on the ground floor of a two-story commercial building. The establishment is beside Sadog Mami’s Laundry and Tanapag Market.

On May 26, 2001, Jose A. de la Rosa, a cashier/attendant, was killed at Ace Poker in Garapan by suspected robbers. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and different parts of the body.

On Friday, Gov. Juan N. Babauta appealed to the people to help the police in solving the murder of a businesswoman who was killed at her poker arcade in Chalan Piao three years ago.

Marsha Kim was found lying on the floor in the cashier’s booth of KSH Poker at 5:06 a.m. on Feb. 5, 1999. Autopsy showed that she died as a result of multiple stab wounds to her upper body and back.
