THE Commonwealth Ports Authority is now looking into the outstanding passenger fees that Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino needs to settle with the government.
CPA Executive Director Carlos Salas said they were studying records to determine the company’s total obligation.
“We have a separate issue with Tinian Dynasty, which our lawyers are now looking into,” Salas said in an interview.
“This concerns passengers fee, but we can’t discuss the details of this openly,” he added.
The U.S. Marshals recently seized two passenger ferries owned by the company that manages Tinian Dynasty—Tinian Express and Saipan Express.
According to the U.S. Marshals, the arrest order issued by the U.S. District Court was executed against the shipping firm for non-payment of debts.
Salas hopes to see an “immediate breakthrough” in the dispute to avoid further travel disruptions.
“This would be a major setback for the business community as well as the commuting public,” he said.
