KOROR (Palau Horizon) — Twenty-three countries and several international organizations will be represented at the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity workshop on May 9 to 11 here in Palau.
Experts throughout the region will conduct presentations and discussions on the proposed regional network architecture, large scale peering and other network service and management issues, said Ed Carter, Palau National Communications Corp. general manager.
Representatives from Australia, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia and the Philippines are among those who will participate in the technical workshop.
Carter said PNCC, in cooperation with the Ministry of State, has volunteered to host the event.
Carter said Asia-Pacific Telecommunity could help small countries expand Internet infrastructure and share insights and inputs on advancing Internet networking issues.
PNCC is expecting over 60 overseas visitors from other nations to attend the workshop with 15 local participants representing various government agencies.
Representatives from the International Telecommunications Union, the main global association for telecommunication matters based in Switzerland, will also attend the workshop.
The conference will be held at Palasia Hotel.
According to Carter, Palau’s hosting of the workshop shows the country’s growing involvement in regional and global issues.
