PALIKIR (FSMIS/PINA) — Three students from Pohnpei’s Talent Research Program visited acting Federated States of Micronesia Speaker Claude Phillip to research on a law imposing a temporary moratorium on hiring foreign workers.
The visit with their tutor was part of a project in which students learn to conduct research, analyze the information and report their findings and conclusions.
The law enacted by the Federated States of Micronesia Congress last October called for a temporary moratorium on the hiring of certain foreign workers. Phillip said the FSM Congress, in the past, had asked the executive branch to examine the problem of foreign workers holding jobs that local people should hold. But the executive branch failed to do so, he said.
