HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Deputy Attorney General Gary “Frank” Gumataotao died Friday, according to a press release sent by the Office of the Attorney General.
“We honor the lasting memory and public service of our Deputy Attorney General Gary W.F. ‘Frank’ Gumataotao,” the release stated.
Before he was the deputy AG, Gumataotao received his law degree from Washington and Lee University in Virginia after earning a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Old Dominion University.
Gumataotao, who died at the age of 69, was a “well-respected businessman and attorney” who served as the deputy AG not only in Attorney General Douglas Moylan’s second term, which began at the start of last year, but also in Moylan’s first term as the first elected attorney general.
“Frank served our community as a well-respected businessman and attorney, previously serving as a deputy attorney general under the first elected AG’s office, and again most recently under this sixth elected attorney general. His private law practice included not only the general practice of law, but provided services, especially in bankruptcy and probate cases,” the OAG’s release stated.
“True to his name, Frank was not one to mince words. He was opinionated and unapologetic, never afraid to speak truth and justice. However, his prowess in practice belied his good heart. He is known by his colleagues to be a generous man, always going above and beyond his duties and ready to lend a helping hand,” the release stated.
“Frank was simply a good man and good friend to many,” said the OAG.
