Proposed 2024-2027 WIOA Unified State Plan open for public comment

(CNMI DOL) — This is to notify the public and interested parties that the Governor’s State Workforce Development Board is seeking comments on the CNMI’s 2024-2027 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Unified State Plan. The public comment period began on Jan. 19, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. and ends on Feb. 17, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Every four years, the CNMI submits a comprehensive state plan to the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Education.  This unified state plan serves as the blueprint of the CNMI’s workforce development efforts for the WIOA core programs. The plan outlines strategic initiatives to assist CNMI residents, including youths and those facing barriers to employment, discover quality jobs opportunities and build lasting careers. Simultaneously, the aim is to support employers in hiring and retaining skilled workers.

The core partners of the CNMI’s Public Workforce System, consisting of the DOL Workforce Investment Agency, NMC Adult Education State Office, and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation administers the following WIOA programs in this unified plan:

•  WIOA Title I Adult Program

 • WIOA Title I Dislocated Worker Program

 •  WIOA Title I Youth Program

 •  WIOA Title II Adult Education and Family Literacy Act Program

 • WIOA Title IV Vocational Rehabilitation Program
