The Dodgers’ first baseman, John Acosta, preps for the pickoff during an SBL Masters League game at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
THE Dodgers have yet to taste defeat in the 2023 SBL Masters League, powering past the Spartans, 16-2, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Wednesday.
The Dodgers started strong as they denied Spartans a run in the top of the opening inning while drawing first blood in the bottom half with a single run contributed by Jeff Cruz, who earned an RBI.
The Dodgers’ lead grew larger in the next two innings.
In the bottom of the second, two Dodger runners slipped by due to defensive errors. Derek Aguon and Cruz then delivered an RBI each to aid in the six runs scored by their team. These were followed by six more runs in the third to further stretch the gap, 13-0.
The Spartans finally broke the silence in the top of the fourth inning with two runs, but the Dodgers responded by scoring three runs.
With no answer from the Spartans in the top of the fifth, the game ended via the 10-run mercy rule with a Dodgers victory, 16-2.
