Suspect allegedly used kitchen knives to assault, cut victim

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A 26-year-old suspect was accused of cutting a man’s hand while wielding and swinging two kitchen knives at him.

On Jan. 13 at about 3:29 a.m., officers with the Guam Police Department responded to an assault complaint made at Ladera Tower in Mangilao where they met with a man who accused Jeremiah Nicol Villar, 26, of assault, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.

The man said he went to sleep at about 1:30 a.m. and then he woke up to Villar, who is known to the man, “repeatedly yelling at him, and throwing items around the victim’s bedroom, including a shelf that was positioned near the victim’s television,” the complaint stated.

“Villar threw her purse to the wall and continued to act very aggressively towards the victim,” and Villar allegedly punched the man multiple times, the complaint stated.

Villar subsequently ran toward the kitchen while yelling and grabbed two large kitchen knives. The man then ran after Villar in an attempt to prevent injury to either of them, according to court documents.

“Holding one knife in each hand, Villar turned angrily towards the victim while swinging both knives and cut the victim on the right (pinkie) finger, causing injury and bleeding. Villar continued to attempt to strike the victim with the knives, resulting in the victim having to temporarily place his hands on Villar’s neck during the struggle to keep Villar back,” the complaint stated.

Police noted the man had a small laceration on the tip of his right pinkie finger, and officers saw suspected dried blood.

Officers reviewed the scene and noted a purse on the floor, a small shelf on its side near a large television against a wall and numerous drops of suspected blood, which appeared on the carpet in the living room and the floor of the kitchen.

According to the complaint, “Villar had called the police, informing the victim that she intended to get him in trouble.”

Villar was charged with aggravated assault as a third-degree felony with a special allegation of a deadly weapon used, along with family violence and criminal trespass as misdemeanors.
