AMERICAN Red Cross-NMI Chapter volunteers responded to a structure fire in Garapan on Sunday and assisted a total of 10 people who were displaced as a result of the fire.
Red Cross volunteer responders Jack Amirez, Luis Crisostomo Jr., Mae Angui, Alvin Borja, and Anneli Arcega were dispatched to the scene and met with the affected residents.
After assessing the damage and interviewing the clients, volunteers were able to assist displaced clients with emergency financial assistance for food and shelter. Additionally, clients were provided with cleanup kits complete with mops, bleach, and other cleaning supplies. In total, volunteers were able to assist 10 individuals from the five units affected.
American Red Cross-NMI Chapter Executive Director John Hirsh stated, “Because these disasters can happen anytime, anywhere, please help stay safe by testing your smoke alarms each month and practicing your home fire escape plan until everyone in your household can escape in two minutes or less.”
