LORRAINE Babauta topped the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s first tournament of the year at the Kingfisher Golf Links on Saturday.

Babauta, who is  vice president of CWGA, cleared the front nine with a gross of 40, and closed the back nine with a gross of 50. With a gross total of 90, her 12 handicap gave her a net score of 78.

Babauta did not win the title without a sweat, however, as Janet Torres also earned a net score of 78. Her front nine gross score was 46 while her back nine gross score was 44. Babauta, however, had the better tie-break score.

In third place was Eunae Jang who shot a gross of 45 and 50 for a total score of 95. With a handicap of 16, her net score was 79.
